Which is the best tour of the route?

How far ahead should I book?
Days, not months, outside peak summer. All three featured tours cancel free to 24 hours, so booking the moment your dates firm up costs nothing. Viator currently marks the top tour "Booked 5+ times today" and the GYG farm tour "Likely to sell out".
Why do some listings hide the price until checkout?
Viator prices vary by date, currency and demand, so the honest number lives in the booking flow. We never reprint figures that go stale; our listing-reading guide shows what to check instead.
Is hotel pickup included?
The Blue Lagoon combo and the farm tour include Reykjavík pickup; Gray Line's classic meets at BSÍ terminal or selected points. Old-town addresses use nearby marked bus stops citywide.
The route and its stops
What are the three classic stops?

How long is the whole loop?
About 300 km, roughly 3.5 to 4 hours of pure driving. Tours run 6.5 to 11 hours because the stops are the point. Details in the timing guide.
What does it cost on the ground?
The three classic sights are free to enter. Þingvellir charges 1,000 ISK parking per car, Kerið charges a 700 ISK service fee, and Blue Lagoon admission starts at $95 pre-booked. Full math in the cost guide.
Can you swim at Geysir?

Seasons and safety
Does the route run in winter?
Year-round. The roads are paved and maintained, tours drive them daily, and operators cancel with refunds when weather makes them unsafe. Month-by-month daylight in the winter guide.
What's the worst month to visit?
Late October and November: short days, frequent storms, no midnight sun and thin aurora odds. Any other window has a stronger case.
Do I need a 4x4 to self-drive it?
Not on the main paved loop in normal conditions. Winter is a different judgment: ice, wind and short daylight are why many winter visitors take a tour instead. See tour vs self-drive.
Should I bring toilet paper?
No. Þingvellir's visitor center, the Geysir center and the Gullfoss cafe all have serviced restrooms, some charging a small card fee. Iceland runs on cards, even there.

What should I pack?
